Don’t be shy about notifying law enforcement! [WI Stat 134.66 (2)(am)]

Students from James Williams Middle School and Rhinelander High School (RHS) were busy making ashtrays to send to Wisconsin State Legislators.

Emily Kelly (left), RHS FACT (Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco) Student wants to send a clear message to Senator Breske and Representative Meyer that they don't want to see Wisconsin become the ashtray of the Midwest. Both Illinois and Minnesota have smoke-free workplaces for everyone and Michigan's House has approved a similar bill.

Twenty two states, including our neighbors, Illinois and Minnesota have comprehensive smokefree laws on their books to protect people from the dangers of second hand smoke. Wisconsin has the opportunity to join those states, but strong opposition from one special interest group has held up state movement. The students message, "Don't let WI become the ashtray of the Midwest."
