The mission of the Tobacco-Free Oneida County Coalition (TFOCC) is to improve the health of Oneida County people by reducing tobacco use through public information and community involvement.
GOAL:
The ultimate goal of the TFOCC is to reduce tobacco use thus secondarily reducing the incidence of tobacco related diseases in the Oneida County population.
OBJECTIVE:
The major objective is to reduce smoking prevalence in the Oneida County area to less than 15% of adults by the year 2000. This objective will be accomplished by both encouraging smokers to quit and discouraging young people from starting to use tobacco.
To achieve the above, the Coalition will:
- Stimulate communication and collaboration among agencies, groups, and individuals interested in control of tobacco use in the Oneida County area.
- Develop a network of organizations to implement and coordinate tobacco reduction initiatives.
- Develop a strategic tobacco reduction plan for Oneida County.
